What We Believe

"We are not to be like reeds shaken by the wind, bowing down before gusts of public opinion, but as immovable as rocks in a mountain stream." - Theologian, Dr. John Stott

Doctrinal Beliefs of SOLID CC

The following are some of the core beliefs of SOLID Christian Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

Scripture

Scripture: We believe that the sacred writings of the Old Testament and New Testament, which we refer to as the Holy Bible, are truly inspired, infallible, and are the authoritative Word of God (Prov. 30:5).  We believe that “all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that man may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (II Tim. 3:16).  Knowing and obeying God’s word is a vital part of true discipleship (Deuteronomy 6:1-9, Matthew 28:20).  Therefore, God has called us to meditate upon it both day and night, so that we may be careful to do everything written in it (Joshua 1:8).

God the Father

God the Father: We believe that God is the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and that he created everything ex nihilo (or without pre-existing material), and in perfection (Genesis 1:1-2:3).  We believe that the Triune God created everything for himself and that all things are sustained through Him (1 Corinthians 8:6, John 1:3, Colossians 1:15-17).  We believe that the climax of God’s creation was the creation of mankind (Genesis 1:26).  Further, we believe God is immanent (Psalms 139:7-10), transcendent (Isaiah 57:15), omniscient (Matt. 24:36), omnipresent (Hebrews 4:13; Psalms. 139:7-12), and that He is self-existent (Exodus 3:14).  We believe that God loves humanity so much that He would give His one and only Son as a ransom, to make atonement for humanity’s sins (John 3:16).  Finally, God the Father is the first part of the Holy Trinity (Matthew 28:18-20).

Jesus Christ the Son

We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God (John 3:16).  We believe that he is 100% human and 100% God.  We believe that Jesus was an obedient sacrifice for the redemption of humanity (Hebrews 10:5-10), and was sinless.  We believe that through Christ’s death, all people who believe in Him will be justified and reconciled to the Father (Romans 5:6-8).  We believe that Jesus is the way the truth and the life, and that no one comes to the Father except through him (John 14:6).  Jesus is the Son of God, and is the second part of the Holy Trinity (Matthew 28:18-20).

Humanity

We believe that humans have been created separately from animal life and were created in the Image of God (Genesis 2:26-27).  Although humans were created as perfect beings and designed to worship and glorify God, we believe that all humanity has freely chosen to abandon the statutes of God.  Mankind has drifted into sin and are condemned to die (Romans 3:23).  However, through God’s love and forgiveness, humanity can come back into the perfected and original state to the Image of God through Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23, Ephesians 4:20-24, Colossians 2:9-14).

Salvation

We believe that salvation starts and finishes with God’s work in our lives (Acts 2:38-39).  Mankind’s salvation is entirely dependent upon God.  We believe in the salvation process taught in Acts 2:1-40.  1) We believe that God initiates a plan of salvation through Jesus’ Christ’s sacrifice on the cross (see also John 3:14-16).  “We are saved by grace” (Ephesians 2:8); 2) that an individual responds to Jesus in faith (John 14:6); 3) that the individual repents and confesses their sin (Romans 10:9); 4) the individual is baptized (Mark 16:16, Romans 6:4); 5) that God washes away the penitent’s sin (1 Peter 3:21-22); 6) and that God gives the individual the Holy Spirit to transform them back into the Image of God (Acts 10:44-48, Galatians 5:22-23, Colossians 2:9-14).

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is Jesus’ replacement here on earth (John 14:16).  We believe that the Holy Spirit is primarily given at the time of baptism (Acts 2:38), that it regenerates the follower (John 3:3-6), and that it indwells within the follower (Acts 2:38).  We believe that the Holy Spirit works in a way that convicts mankind of his sinful nature (Acts 7:51, John 16:5-6), and is to be a sign to the world that this person is a follower of Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9).  An individual cannot be saved without the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is the third part of the Holy Trinity (Matthew 28:18-20).

The Church

We believe that the mission of the church is to glorify God through the worship of a repentant and humble heart.  We believe that this happens through the fulfillment of the great commission which states that Christians are to go forth into the world, making disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything God has commanded (Matthew 28:18-20).  We believe that the church is not a building, but rather a community of believers who worship and glorify God with their faithful lives (Acts 1:8).  We believe that there are 5 facets of church life: worship (Matthew 22:37), service (Matthew 22:39), evangelism (Acts 1:8), fellowship (Ephesians 2:19) and education (Ephesians 4:11-16).
